The Subclass 485 visa (Graduate Work stream) will remove requirements to nominate a skilled occupation and to have positive skills assessment.
Whilst all other requirements of the 485 visa will remain in place, the removal of the requirement to nominate a skilled occupation and to have a positive skills assessment encourages a broader range of graduates who satisfy the Australian study requirement to live and work in Australia for a further temporary period.
Previously, graduates whose related occupations are not included in the current list of specified eligible occupations are not eligible for the subclass 485 visa (Graduate Work). If their occupation is not an eligible occupation they would only be eligible for the Post-Study Work stream if their qualification was at degree level or above.
These changes are expected to now allow those who completed a diploma, advanced diploma or trade qualification to also be eligible for the subclass 485 visa even if their occupation was not an eligible occupation.
These changes are available from 01 July 2022 to 30 June 2023.
