After direct discussion with the Talent Officers, we received an invitation to the Global Talent Independent Program within a week.

The Global Talent Independent Program is one of the streams to the Global Talent Visa.

For the Global Talent Visa (Subclass 858), you can apply under two different streams:

  • Global Talent Independent Program; or
  • Distinguished Talent.

The processing time is substantially different for both streams. For the Global Talent Independent Program the average processing time is 61 days to 3 months, whilst the Distinguished Talent stream average processing time is 20 to 23 months.*

Background

Our Client was a PhD graduate of an Australian university. After completing his studies, he continued to work as a medical researcher in Australia.

The Global Talent Visa Program is a streamlined visa pathway to attract the best talent (i.e. highly skilled professionals) to work and live in Australia permanently. There are only 15,000 places available under this program so only the best of the best are invited. You must submit an Expression of Interest (‘EOI’) for the Department to consider whether to invite you and you must demonstrate internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in one of the target sectors.

Information provided by the Department was that as of July 2021, they were only assessing EOIs from October 2020. This meant the processing time for the invitation itself would generally take roughly 9 months.

When the client first approached us at the end of July 2021, the visa would expire in December 2021 (roughly 6 months) so they were very concerned as to whether or not they would qualify and whether they would be able to obtain an invitation before December 2021. Without an invitation, you could not lodge a valid visa application.

We got them an invitation within one week

Difficulties with this case

It was important for us to work expeditiously on this matter to ensure the deadlines were all met, but it was also just as important to ensure that every detail was presented so that the Department could easily see that our Client was a highly skilled individual.

We assisted the Client in initiating direct contact with a Talent Officer from the region’s office. We handled the Expression of Interest smoothly and in a timely manner.

In the end, as a result of our combined efforts in presenting a succinct and strong case, the invitation was issued to our Client extremely quick, within one week

Quick Response and Professional Management to obtain Expression of Interest

I sought legal assistance from Brightstone Migration to help prepare and submit my expression of interest (EOI) for the Global Talent Visa. Adele managed my case; throughout the whole process she was extremely professional and responded quickly and clearly to any concerns that me or my partner had about the process. Overall, I am extremely happy with our experience, and I would recommend Adele’s services to anyone looking for help with their immigration to Australia.
